The Korean RE-Sourcing Forum 2024, held from October 31st to November 1st at the Ramada Jeju Hotel in Jeju, South Korea, brought together industry leaders, energy buyers, and sustainability professionals. Key Discussions and Highlights



1.     Diversification of Corporate Sourcing Options Professor Sangjun Lee from Seoul National University of Science and Technology highlighted the importance of broadening the range of renewable energy sourcing strategies for corporations. He emphasized alternatives to conventional PPAs, such as green tariffs, virtual PPAs, and on-site generation. These diversified approaches offer flexibility and cater to the varied energy requirements of corporations.

2.     Policy Advocacy for Barrier Removal Jaepil Park, Country Head of Peak Energy, underscored the need for policy advocacy to dismantle regulatory and systemic challenges that impede renewable energy growth. His presentation focused on advocating for policies that simplify permitting processes, enhance grid integration, and provide financial incentives to support renewable energy projects.

3.     Renewable Energy Procurement in China and Southeast Asia Albert Sutanto, Manager of SE Asia Market and Global EACs Sourcing delivered a compelling presentation on renewable energy procurement in China and Southeast Asia, highlighting market maturity and challenges corporations faced in their decarbonization journey in some key Asian countries. His insights shed light on cross-regional strategies and opportunities for businesses involved in renewable energy sourcing, offering practical guidance and expertise.




The discussions at the forum aimed to address certification systems, policy reforms, and the development of new market instruments, creating a stronger and more adaptable renewable energy market that aligns with corporate sustainability aspirations.
